One man against the mob, the story behind the stories.
Crime bosses, mafia hit men, drug merchants, illegal bookmakers, as well as people in power - all have tried to stop Bob Bottom.

The author of Inside Victoria - A chronicle of scandal among many other Australian Crime paperbacks, Bob Bottom has been a controversial writer since writing his first expose in The Bulletin in 1963.

For six years until 1989, he was consultant to 'Insight in the Age in Melbourne, He is the author of seven crime books prior to Inside Victoria. These included - Behind the Barrier, The Godfather in Australia, Without fear or Fervour, Connections, Connections 2, Shadow of Shame, and Bugged.


In the US, 'The Godfather in Australia' was listed by the Department of Justice as an official reference for all American crime agencies.

As Australia's top investigative reporter, he has been subjected to more threats, smears and vilification than probably any other individual in Australian journalistic history.

Robert Trimbole sued Bottom in the NSW Supreme Court for the further publication of this photo in his book Without Fear or Fervour.

Frank Nugan, former head of the Griffith based Nugan Hand Bank was consumed by two abiding hates; Attorney-General Frank Walker and journalist Bob Bottom.

He blamed them for instituting charges against him and his brother Ken, and for the scrutiny of the international activities of the Nugan Hand Bank.

Bob has also edited other publications including, Big Shots (David Wilson and Lindsay Murdoch) and Big Shots 2 (David Wilson and Paul Robinson)
